St. Leonard’s 2008 Sports & More Auction
In a year that celebrates St. Leonard’s 25th anniversary as a Senior Living Community, the 25th Sports & More Auction was held April 26, 2008 at the Presidential Banquet Center. Hosts Larry Hansgen of WHIO AM Radio and Nancy Wilson of K99.1FM Radio joined Auctioneer Doug Sorrell in leading the night’s activities.
Bidding was enthusiastic on 14 enticing Live Auction items and 280 Silent Auction items. The evening’s highlight was the sale of a mint-condition, cherry red, 1993 Cadillac Allante convertible for $20,000. St. Leonard Foundation Board member Phil Vorherr and his wife Elaine were the generous donors.
Original floral arrangements based on the Sports & More theme from 39 area florists provided unique centerpieces and conversation pieces. A representative of Silver Sponsor Beeber Pharmacies, an Omnicare Company, drew the winning two $5,000 raffle prize tickets which belonged to a St. Leonard resident and a family member of a resident. By the end of the evening, Foundation volunteers, donors, and attendees contributed to raising $60,000 in net proceeds for the St. Leonard Greatest Need Fund!
