St. Leonard Events Outcomes and Sponsors

On September 24, 2007, 124 golfers converged on Walnut Grove County Club in support of St. Leonard’s Legacy Golf Tournament.  Golfers were greeted by the Mulligan Man at registration where they purchased mulligans, skirts and raffle tickets then proceeded to join their foursome for an enjoyable lunch.  Before the shot-gun start, Sr. Kateri prayed in thanksgiving for the beautiful day and prayed that each person’s score would be the lowest ever, then volunteers shouted “ladies and gentlemen start your engines” which sent golfers off in their carts for their first challenging tee shot.  Despite the unusual September heat, players drove, chipped, and putted their way through the 18 holes.  More than one shout of “Fore!” was heard as stray balls careened through trees and landed in challenging spots throughout the course. No hole-in-one shots were made, but six competitive golfers won “closest to the pin” and “longest drive” hole contests.  After golfing, players shared their stories over a delicious grilled steak and chicken dinner.

The evening’s program began when WHIO 1290 AM radio announcer Larry Hansgen turned the silent auction into a live auction by getting everyone laughing and bidding on some of the wonderful donated items. What an exciting event! St. Leonard’s Executive Director, Tim Dressman, thanked everyone for participating and gave a heartfelt speech about St. Leonard and its mission of serving seniors. Tim introduced Golf Pro Brent Sipe, who announced the Two Best Ball of Four and Scramble team winners along with the individual contest winners. The recipients were applauded as they received their awards.   To end this perfect evening, raffle tickets were drawn and participant’s faces lit up with smiles when they received their awesome raffle prizes!

Because of everyone’s generosity, this event raised net proceeds of $42,000!

On behalf of the residents who benefit from our Benevolent Care fund, we thank you for supporting the mission of St. Leonard Senior Living Community.
